Stefanos Kouratzis

Stefanos Kouratzis (b. 1975, Athens, Greece) is an award-winning multidisciplinary photographer living and working in (The Republic of) Cyprus since 2000. He studies in 1994 (till 1997) at Focus, School of Art Photography, Video and New Technologies (Athens, Greece) and years later, he takes online courses at MoMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York) and Magnum Photos. In 2018, he participated at the 16th Venice Biennale of Architecture, part of the Cyprus Pavilion (I Am Where You Are) with three photographic projects. In 2021, he was invited by the curatorial team of the first retrospective exhibition for Stavros Economou work, one of the most prominent figures of modern architecture in Cyprus, “Past-forward: Stavros Economou Unarchived” exhibition to contribute with a series of photos at “SPEL”, The State Gallery of Modern & Contemporary Cypriot Art, Nicosia. Selected awards include PDN (Photo Annual), IPA (International Photography Awards), PX3 (Prix de la Photographie, Paris) and Fujifilm EuroPress Awards (Cyprus). Over the years has collaborated with international media organizations including AFP, Reuters, Associated Press, Xinhua, France24, Arte (France) and BBC Radio. His photos are in books, including Press and Information Office’s publications (Republic of Cyprus) and in private collections in Cyprus, Greece, Spain and Brazil. His articles (on Photography and Journalistic) have been published in Cyprus, Greece, USA, England and Poland. He is a full member of the Union of Cyprus Journalists, of IFJ (International Federation of Journalists) and member of the Performance Evaluation Committee of the THYMELI Scheme (EAP) of THOC (Cyprus Theatre Organisation).
